Bracing for the seasonal surge in temperatures, Tolleson, Arizona has initiated a set of heat relief measures to aid its residents during the summer of 2025. A cornerstone of these initiatives is the city's distribution of Portable Air Conditioner units, aimed at providing immediate cooling relief, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and those with health conditions. Residents can apply for a unit by contacting the City of Tolleson Community Action Program (CAP) Office.
The program is open to all residents of Tolleson, without income restrictions. As the mercury rises, the portable ACs are expected to be in high demand and they are available on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the City of Tolleson'sofficial announcement. Those facing after-hours air conditioning emergencies have been advised to call the Tolleson Police Department's non-emergency line for support.
For additional heat relief, both the city's Fire and Police Departments are operating as Hydration Stations, where residents can collect bottled water. This is part of Tolleson's commitment to keep its community hydrated throughout the stifling summer months. The Fire Department hosts an accessible cooler in front of the station, ensuring water is available at all times, even in the absence of staff.
Moreover, the Tolleson Social Club is opening its doors to provide a cool, air-conditioned space for adults 55 and older to socialize and engage in activities away from the heat. Located at the Tolleson Civic Center, the club has set operating hours from Monday through Thursday, spanning 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m..
To learn more about these programs or to apply, residents can visit the City of Tolleson's website, call the designated number, or make in-person inquiries at the Tolleson Civic Center or any established Hydration Station around the city.
