Get ready for some delays if you're planning to travel across the Danzinger Bridge this coming Friday. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has scheduled lane closures for both directions of US 90 (Chef Menteur Hwy.) to carry out maintenance on the bridge's traffic gates.
According to an announcement posted by DOTD, the eastbound right lane will be closed from Johnny Jackson Blvd. to Majestic Oaks Dr., with the work starting early at 6 AM and stretching until the afternoon at 3 PM on Friday, June 6. During the closure, crews will focus on removing and replacing the traffic gates, an essential step in ensuring the safety of the thoroughfare.
The westbound lanes aren't escaping the touch of maintenance either. Beginning at 9 AM and concluding at 6 PM, the westbound right lane of the same stretch between Johnny Jackson Blvd. and Majestic Oaks Dr. will also be shut down. The intention behind these interruptions, echoed in the eastbound work, is to manage the bridge's hardware which steadfastly regulates the flow of vehicles - an action that underscores the state's commitment to infrastructure resilience.
The DOTD is urging travelers to exercise caution, remain patient, and pay attention to the road - especially where work crews and their equipment are present along the closures. Always being on the lookout for work crews and their equipment, the DOTD's safety reminder states that one should drive through the construction site with caution.
