A volatile encounter on the Will Rogers Turnpike led to a harrowing accident and a subsequent manhunt near Vinita, Oklahoma. According to KRMG, a truck driver narrowly escaped death when a passenger car, driven by Nurbin Remigio Hernandez-Guzman, lost control and collided with the semi-truck, causing it to plunge over a bridge and erupt in flames. Remarkably, despite the dramatic plunge and subsequent explosion, the truck driver walked away with minor injuries.
The aftermath of this incident saw law enforcement launch an extensive search for Hernandez-Guzman, who had fled the scene post-collision. Roughly three hours later, Vinita Police officers located him in a creek bed, where, according to an interview with News On 6, he surrendered without incident. The eastbound exit ramp to Vinita and the region under the bridge where the truck fell were closed for investigation but have since been reopened.
The crash stirred not only local authorities but riveted social media after footage emerged depicting the chaos of the event. As seen in a video reported by KOCO 5, the violent impact sent the semi off the road and into flames, while the vehicle that hit it came to an abrupt halt. The driver of that vehicle, Hernandez-Guzman, is now facing multiple charges including leaving the scene of an injury crash and reckless driving among others.
The case is anticipated to be reviewed by the Craig County District Attorney's Office, as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash continues.
