Two individuals have been transported to the hospital following a shooting incident in a Norwood home yesterday afternoon. Information reported from FOX19 indicated that the violence erupted on the 5000 block of Rhode Island Avenue. Norwood Police Lieutenant Mark Vickers stated that both victims are in serious condition but have been stabilized at UC Medical Center. According to Vickers, the event was confined to the residence, and authorities have secured everyone involved, indicating that there is no further threat to the public.
The incident forced two other occupants inside the home to flee the scene, but neither is considered a suspect, as reported by WLWT. The police pursuit is ongoing for identified suspects, although officers have not yet taken anyone into custody. Despite this, the police believe the shooting to be an isolated event, reassuring the community that there is no additional danger.
Discrepancies emerged regarding the number of individuals affected by the shooting when, originally, dispatch informed WCPO that three had been hospitalized. However, on the scene, a Norwood police officer clarified that only two were taken to the hospital. The confusion extended to the clarity of the victims' conditions, which neither the dispatch nor the officer on-site could confirm.
In terms of the police response, while there are no suspects currently at large after the shooting, the Norwood Police Department emphasized that the ongoing investigation would continue to prioritize public safety.
