
This morning, Beverly Police and Fire Departments responded to a plane crash near Beverly Regional Airport. According to Beverly Police Department official website, the crash occurred around 8:46 a.m. on Sam Fonzo Drive, just outside the airport.
Emergency crews found a single-engine piston aircraft severely damaged and resting against a utility pole. Two men were inside the aircraft. One was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries. No injuries on the ground or additional property damage were reported.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified and are investigating the crash. The Essex County District Attorney’s Office is also involved in the investigation.
Support was provided by the Danvers Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Police. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
