The analytics landscape is pulsing with fresh insights as the University of Cincinnati's Center for Business Analytics recently hosted its 13th annual Analytics Summit. More than 350 professionals gathered on May 6 at the Sharonville Convention Center to probe into where the smart money is setting its sights within the realms of AI and business analytics. This year, "Follow the Money" was the focal theme, shaping keynote discourses and break-out sessions, each with an eye on investment flows and strategic thrusts in technology.

Tim Cholvat, steward of the center, kicked off the event by sharing the mission statement of the center, which revolves around fostering connections and enhancing knowledge among corporate and academic circles in the domain of business analytics and AI, according to the University of Cincinnati's news release. An array of sessions, including a fireside chat and presentations from two keynote speakers, were aimed at deciphering the changing currents in the industry investment and tactics.

Highlighting the summit was Shashank Saxena, an alumnus who currently helms Sierra Ventures as managing partner and Pantomath as co-founder and CEO. He laid out the landscape of "Digital Transformation 2.0 — The Next Wave of AI" in a keynote that mapped the evolution of digital metamorphosis. According to the University of Cincinnati, Saxena contextualized the seismic shifts from the initial waves of digitization, sparked by the surge in mobile technology, data proliferation, and geolocation services, to what's on the horizon for artificial intelligence.

"Everyone jumps to AI. Haven't we been talking about AI for the past 40 years?" Saxena mused, signaling a departure from the past to a future where AI's potential for exponential growth could finally be realized, according to his keynote details shared by the University of Cincinnati. Saxena also touched on the transformative changes ahead and the tough transition period as industries grapple to distinguish the roles best suited for humans versus those for AI.

The University of Cincinnati’s Center for Business Analytics has clearly positioned itself as a nexus for thought leadership in the ever-evolving field of business analytics and artificial intelligence—a space where academia and industry converge to navigate the tempest of technological progress and investment opportunities. And as the latest summit elucidates, understanding where the investments pour in today could very well shape the technological capabilities of our tomorrows.
