
The University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) has recently appointed Jessie L. Grant, PhD, as the new Assistant Dean of Student Services. This position officially started on June 2, as reported by the university's news release. Grant, who comes with a robust background in higher education leadership, will oversee academic advising programs, student resource connections, and the evaluation of CCM policies to enhance service for both undergraduate and graduate students.
With a three-decade tenure in student affairs, Grant has served in pivotal roles, including Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at the Cleveland Institute of Art, among other academic institutions, where he fostered environments that support student success and belonging. This career trajectory has equipped him with a varied skill set, making him adept at guiding students from diverse backgrounds to reach their highest potential. Pete Jutras, Dean of CCM, expressed gratitude in their search led by committee chair Stephanie Schlagel and mentioned previous interim efforts by James Bunte, stating, "Dr. Grant comes to us with expertise in leading student affairs in both arts-oriented and academic settings," according to the university announcement.
