Travelers in Orleans Parish should prepare for upcoming roadwork affecting the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-10 and US 90, which may impact overnight traffic next week. According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), the lane closures are scheduled to begin on the evening of Monday to facilitate the installation of barrier-mounted sign assemblies.
Specifically, eastbound I-10 will see the right lane shut down starting next week at 10:00 PM on Monday and again on Tuesday, with the closures lasting until 5:30 AM the following mornings. The impacted stretch runs from Tulane Ave to Orleans Ave. Westbound I-10 will experience similar disruptions, with a recurring right lane closure beginning on Wednesday next week, at 9:00 PM and continuing through the night of Thursday, ending early morning on Friday, June 20. Both closures are weather permitting and will recur there respective nights.
Furthermore, US 90 (N. Claiborne Ave) will see more extensive lane closures. Both the left and center lanes will be closed during the same period, next week from Monday at 7:00 PM to the early hours of Thursday at 5:30 AM. Affected areas again stretch between Tulane Ave and Orleans Ave. DOTD advises drivers to exercise caution around the work zones and observe all signage and traffic directives aimed at ensuring safety.
These roadwork initiatives come as part of an ongoing effort to maintain and improve transportation infrastructure within the city. Both residents and visitors planning night travel through these areas should account for potential delays and consider alternative routes where available. As always, the precise timing of the closures may be subject to changes due to unforeseen weather conditions or other variables.
