In an upcoming display of patriotic fervor and musical excellence, Technical Sergeant Nicole Vander Does, an alumnus of Utah State University, will robustly perform as a special guest soloist with the USU Alumni Band. According to USU Today, Vander Does, who is now a soprano vocalist for the U.S. Air Force Band Singing Sergeants, is expected to grace the stage on June 29 at 7 p.m. in the Daryl Chase Fine Art Center's Daines Concert Hall.
The concert is set to reflect America's fervent spirit through a variety of classic tunes such as "Battle Hymn of the Republic," "God Bless America," and "Stars and Stripes Forever." Notably, a special tribute to the Armed Services is also part of the evening's agenda, as reported by USU Today. Amidst the celebration of sound, there will also be a nod to the legacy carved by USU's music alumni who have gone on to impact the musical and educational communities far and wide.
As per USU Today, Lane Weaver, director of athletic bands at USU, emphasized the school's track record for nurturing musical talent saying, "We've sent out professionals to make their way in a very competitive world." He finds it remarkable that so many USU graduates have made substantial careers out of music, highlighting the dedication and importance of the university's programs.
Vander Does's journey to the Singing Sergeants and her engagement with music and service have rendered her path deeply meaningful. "From performing for The White House to deploying to the Middle East to being a featured soloist in Scotland's Military Tattoo has been nothing short of incredible," Vander Does said, as per USU Today. Her career choice was as much about passion for music as it was about honoring veterans and fostering patriotism.
