The Utah State University Board of Trustees is gearing up for a change in leadership. According to USU Today, the board has elected Tessa White as the new chair, with Trustee Gina Gagon set to continue as vice chair. This transition will take effect starting July 1, as they step into roles critical for shaping the university’s future.
The decision was made last Friday, and it’s one that looks to hold a lot of personal significance for the incoming chair. “I am an Aggie. My husband and parents are Aggies, as are several of our children. I love this school and it's an honor to serve,” Tessa White expressed in a sentiment that underscores her deep-rooted connection to the institution, as per USU Today. White's background is notably extensive, with a start in human resources, culminating in a career that touches upon fast growth, change management, and mergers and acquisitions. She carries the mantle of best-selling author and is considered a career navigation expert for young professionals. Her previous engagements include the Huntsman School of Business Board and her USU board entry on Aug. 12, 2021.
Meanwhile, Gina Gagon, who retains the position of vice chair, offers an equally solid background. From the trenches of PwC's business assurance to co-piloting Gagon Family Medicine, Gagon brings a wealth of experience to the table. Her community engagements have included numerous roles ranging from board chair for the Boys & Girls Club of Carbon County to treasurer of the Price Chapel Governing Board. She first took her seat on the USU Board of Trustees back in March of 2019, indicating an established investment in the university's direction and governance.
