The Queen’s Cups, a bakery in Worcester’s Canal District, will close on Sunday, according to an announcement by owner Renee King Diaz. In a message shared on Instagram, Diaz said, “It is with a broken heart that I share that The Queen’s Cups will be closing on Sunday, June 29th.” The bakery, known for its cupcakes and other desserts, opened in 2012.
Over the years, the business faced several challenges, including a four-month closure during the COVID-19 pandemic and a major renovation. Despite these efforts, Diaz noted in her post, obtained from The Queen's Cups Instagram, that the decision to close was difficult and personal. She shared, “I’ve sacrificed my health, my peace, and time with my family to chase this dream. And as much as I wanted to end it on my own terms, sometimes life just doesn’t work that way..”
Diaz also wrote, “I feel heartbroken, embarrassed, and deeply grateful all at once,” adding that while the closure was unexpected, she was thankful for the community’s support. The reason for closing was not specified in the MassLive report. She concluded her post by thanking her staff and customers, stating that business will continue as usual until the final day, and asked for patience during the transition.
The Queen’s Cups is located at 56 Water St. in Worcester.
