Following an urgent Endangered Child Alert issued on Sunday, relief swept through Sevier County as 6-year-old Ernesto Ramos Quiroz was found safe. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed the resolution after issuing an alert earlier that day, indicating the child had been believed to be with his non-custodial father, Jorge Ramos Lopez, 34. According to WVLT, Lopez was wanted for aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault, details provided after the crisis was resolved.
Ernesto was reported missing Saturday morning, last seen near Ten Point Lane in Sevier County. Having ascertained a potential risk to the child, the TBI moved swiftly to enlist public assistance in their search, providing a clear description of the boy and the companion he was thought to be with, as originally reported by WBIR.
Authorities took Lopez into custody without further incident, and he faces charges that made him wanted well before the alert was initiated. Following the arrest, it was a straightforward matter for the sheriff's office to proceed amidst the complexities of the case, sweeping in to secure and process Lopez, as mentioned in a report from WATE. Anyone with more information is encouraged to contact the TBI.
