
In a concerning update for parents and caregivers, the Oregon Health Authority has reported cases of lead poisoning in two babies linked to a specific baby food. The product in question is Target's Good & Gather Baby Pea, Zucchini, Kale, Thyme Vegetable Puree which has been recalled. The OHA is urging those who have purchased the product to dispose of it immediately and consult with their child's healthcare provider about potential blood tests.
The social media post from the OHA that brought the issue to public attention stated, "ICYMI: Two babies in Oregon got lead poisoning after eating a recalled Target baby food — Good & Gather Baby Pea, Zucchini, Kale, Thyme Vegetable Puree."
As part of their Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, the OHA is taking this incident seriously, stressing the importance of checking home supplies for the recalled food items. Ryan Barker, the program's coordinator discussed the devastating effects of lead poisoning in children and the necessity of this recall on the OHA’s Facebook page.
