The Utah Department of Government Operations has named Andrew Marr as the new division director for the Division of Facilities Construction and Management (DFCM), following a comprehensive nationwide search, as confirmed by the department in a press release issued on Friday. Marr has been steering the ship as interim division director since October 2024, now set to anchor the role permanently.
Having joined the State of Utah workforce in 2011, Marr started off as an apprentice maintenance specialist at DFCM, showcasing a steady climb through the ranks. By 2016, he was managing the Capitol Hill complex, and he advanced to assistant director of DFCM in 2021, laying the groundwork for his eventual succession to interim director, and now, division director.
"Andy has demonstrated strong leadership abilities over the past nine months as interim division director, and in prior roles," Executive Director Marvin Dodge said, as per the Utah Department of Government Operations. "I’m confident he’ll do an excellent job of leading the division’s essential work that will leave a lasting impact for future generations." Marr's leadership will influence DFCM's oversight of nearly 4,300 buildings statewide, including the delivery of construction management, facility maintenance, and real estate services to state agencies and academic institutions.
Originally from Seattle, Marr moved to Utah in 2009 after earning a master’s degree in environmental science. With deep roots set in the state since, Marr acknowledged the gravity of his new post, "I am humbled and honored to accept the responsibility of leading DFCM as the division continues to prioritize accountability to the public through efficient management of capital projects, real estate, and facilities management for all Utahns", he said as obtained by the Utah Department of Government Operations.
