Oklahoma City is welcoming a new Finance Director to take the helm of the municipal finance team. Angela Pierce, boasting more than 20 years in financial management, will assume the responsibility from August 22, succeeding Brent Bryant who recently became Assistant City Manager. City Manager Craig Freeman expressed confidence in Pierce's leadership abilities, highlighting her previous role as the City's Deputy Chief Financial Officer for four years. "Angela is a proven leader with more than two decades of financial management experience, including four years as the City’s Deputy Chief Financial Officer," Freeman said, in a statement obtained by okc.gov.
As Finance Director, Pierce will oversee a department comprising 87 positions and seven divisions, which cover a broad spectrum of services from accounting to risk management. Her tenure at the City includes handling a hefty $22 million budget, and managing a $1.6 billion investment portfolio. Pierce was also the City's Debt Coordinator, a role her practical experience has well-prepared her for.
In a testament to her career dedication to municipal finance, Angela Pierce shared her sentiments about the new journey ahead. "I'm incredibly humbled and honored to step into the role of Finance Director for the City of Oklahoma City," Pierce told okc.gov. "Having dedicated my career to municipal finance, I’m excited to lead such an incredible team of hard-working people. We’ll remain committed to the conservative financial stewardship that our residents expect and deserve, ensuring a strong and stable future for Oklahoma City."
Pierce's resume is comprehensive; before ascending to her current post, she led efforts at AAA CPA, a firm she founded, specialized in strategic and financial management, and took on leadership roles like Finance Director at 929 Strategies. Her education from the University of Central Oklahoma, including a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration, paired with her CPA certification, has solidified her expertise. She is married to Adam Pierce and takes pride in being a mother to her two children, Andrew and Anna.
