An officer-involved shooting in Antioch has left a 26-year-old man dead, following threats he reportedly made towards his family and a neighbor. Antioch police officers initially responded to a 911 call at around 7:15 AM last Monday, where they encountered Davis Bahrami, who was allegedly armed with a knife. The Antioch Police Department, in a press release, detailed that Bahrami charged at the officers, which eventually led to the fatal shooting.
The event occurred in the 3800 block of Osprey Drive, where, according to the Hoodline report, officers attempted to de-escalate the situation over the phone but were met with resistance from Bahrami. Despite efforts to calm Bahrami and the use of less-lethal munitions, he advanced on officers while holding the knife, prompting them to discharge their service weapons. Officers then rendered aid to Bahrami until paramedics arrived; however, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The involved officers are on paid administrative leave per department policy, a standard procedure following such incidents. An investigation into the incident is underway by both the Antioch Police Department Investigations Bureau and the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, as the press release from the Antioch Police Department mentioned. This aligns with the Contra Costa County Law Enforcement Involved Fatal Incident Protocol.
