Two suspects, Aseel Alhajj and Miguel Rivera, were arrested last Wednesday in Oakland after the Alameda County Sheriff's Office leveraged technology and community vigilance to solve an armed robbery case in San Lorenzo. According to a social media post by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, the Eden Township Substation (ETS) deputies used the Flock Camera System in response to a witness report, enabling them to track and apprehend the alleged culprits.
The arrested duo was allegedly involved in the forceful theft of a gold necklace from a victim on the 300 block of Paseo Grande. A crime that included the brandishing of a firearm. Though the victim was not harmed during the incident, the rapid response by the ETS Real-Time Information Center (RTIC) ensured that the authorities could efficiently pin down the suspects' stolen vehicle and execute the arrest in the City of Oakland. Both Alhajj and Rivera have since been taken to Santa Rita Jail.
A loaded firearm with an extended magazine was found on Rivera during a search after his arrest. The Sheriff's Office commended the efforts of the community member whose timely report was pivotal in the arrests, further highlighting the collective operation involving multiple units, including the Gang Suppression Unit, Property Crimes Unit, Street Crimes Unit, Intelligence Support Unit, the Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Taskforce, and the Air Support Unit.
