In the spirit of Independence Day, Atlanta's solid waste management team is adjusting its schedule for the holiday. The City of Atlanta announced that residents need to keep an eye on their trash and recycling bins — or rather, when to curb them. For those of you with Friday as your usual trash day, don't leave your bins out tomorrow, because no one will be around to collect them, not until the next day.
Specifically, all solid waste services that would typically happen on Friday, July 4, are postponed to Saturday, July 5, so if your Friday morning ritual involves wheeling out your refuse, Saturday's the day to do it this week; carts should hit the curbside by 7 a.m., for the record. Regular solid waste collection schedules will pick back up on Monday, July 7, giving everyone a day to recover from the festivities, the fireworks, and probably a hot dog hangover or two that's how it goes when a nation's birthday gives cause to pause.
Still confused or need a little extra help? The City of Atlanta has your back, offering several ways to get additional assistance. Residents can dial 3-1-1 within the city limits or call 404-546-0311 for guidance. For the tech-savvy, downloading the Atlanta Solid Waste Services mobile app might be the best way to stay updated, or you can visit their website to check your collection schedule.
