Atlanta drivers should prepare for delays as a major section of Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard NW—from Elaine Avenue NW to Huff Road NW—is now closed around the clock for construction. The closure began at 7 a.m. yesterday and will remain in effect until 4 p.m. on July 25, or until the work is completed, according to the Atlanta Department of Transportation. Commuters are encouraged to seek alternate routes during this period.
The road closure on Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard NW is part of the Atlanta BeltLine Northwest Trail Segment 5 construction—a highly anticipated project aimed at enhancing connectivity and expanding recreational space throughout the city. While the long-term benefits are significant, the nearly three-week shutdown is expected to cause inconvenience for residents and workers in the area.
For southbound drivers on Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard NW who normally turn right onto Elaine Avenue NW, the detour routes them right onto Huff Road NW, then right onto Marietta Boulevard NW. Northbound drivers on Ellsworth will turn left onto Huff Road NW, then right onto Marietta. Those heading south on Marietta Boulevard NW who previously turned left onto Elaine Avenue NW will now turn left onto Huff Road NW, then left again to reconnect with Ellsworth. Drivers approaching Elaine Avenue NW from the opposite direction must turn right onto Huff, then left to rejoin Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard NW, according to ATLDOT.
The Atlanta Department of Transportation acknowledges the disruption road closures can bring and is available to address questions or concerns via email at [email protected]. For a clearer understanding of the temporary traffic patterns, detour maps and additional information are available on the department’s official website. Commuters are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time, as adjustments to daily routines will be unavoidable during construction—and patience will be essential as the work progresses.
