On Thursday morning, a fire broke out at two pallet-related businesses near Sawtell Avenue and McDonough Boulevard in southeast Atlanta. The fire started around 1 a.m. and involved stacks of pallets about 15 to 20 feet high. Fire crews responded to the scene, as reported by FOX5 Atlanta.

Firefighters responded quickly to the scene and worked to bring the situation under control. Assistant Fire Chief Derek Hullander said, “The structures were actually close. There were exposures, so we were able to get in and do an operation quick enough to cut the fire off and limit any damage to the structures,” according to FOX5 Atlanta. No buildings were damaged, despite the fire’s distance from the road requiring extended hoses from nearby hydrants.

Four engines and three aerial trucks responded to a fire near Sawtell Avenue. The fire was put out, and no injuries were reported. The nearest building, an abandoned warehouse, was not damaged. Sawtell Avenue has fully reopened. Firefighter Hullander said, “It definitely is more taxing on us. The weight of the gear holds your body temperature, and you get hotter. So we do have to monitor our work-rest cycles and hydration, but this is what we train for,” as mentioned by 11Alive.
