Authorities have detained a man in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred earlier this year at an Atlanta apartment complex. 34-year-old Jonathan Lawson now faces charges including murder and aggravated assault following a fatal incident at the Park Vista Apartments.
Details of the case, as provided by FOX 5 Atlanta, indicate Lawson was arrested last Friday, July 11. The charges against him also span possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. With assistance from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, Lawson was booked into the Fulton County Jail and appeared in court the day after his arrest. Court records revealed that Lawson opted to defer a bond hearing until a later date.
The shooting in question occurred on January 9 at the Park Vista Apartments. Attempts to swiftly gather more information about the circumstances surrounding the event have been frustrated, as further details were not immediately available. The victim, a 35-year-old man, suffered critical gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries after being taken to the hospital, according to Atlanta News First.
Looking ahead, Lawson is scheduled for court appearances concerning this case; a preliminary hearing set for 9 a.m. on August 1 and a bond hearing to follow at 2 p.m. on August 7. As the police stated, the investigation is currently still ongoing and, at this juncture, any possibility of bond has not been revealed publicly.
