Drivers planning to navigate through a section of Atlanta's bustling streets will need to consider an alternate route starting tomorrow. According to an announcement from the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT), a temporary closure will be impacting 5th Street NW from Spring Street NW to William Street NW. The closure, set to facilitate roadway reconstruction activities, is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on July 28 and will last until 4:00 p.m. on August 1, as stated in a news release published on the ATLDOT website.
The detours to navigate around the closed stretch have been clearly defined for eastbound and westbound travelers. Eastbound traffic on 5th St NW will be redirected, right onto Williams St NW, left onto 4TH St NW, and then left onto West Peachtree St NW. Those going westbound will turn left onto Spring St NW, then right onto 4TH St NW, and a final right onto Williams St NW. Enforcement officers and flaggers will be positioned for assistance with traffic control during the closure period.
While the roadway is receiving its updates, pedestrians can breathe easy knowing that sidewalks along this section of 5th Street NW will remain accessible. Local businesses and foot traffic won't be brought to a standstill while the streets above are being reconstructed.
For those with questions or pressing concerns, the ATLDOT has made communication channels available. The department can be reached via the provided email address, [email protected], for any inquiries. With daily commutes and logistics potentially affected, a level of disruption is anticipated, stakeholders and commuters are encouraged to plan ahead and stay informed on any changes that may arise during the course of the construction work.
