An Avondale man, identified as Chevalier Adams, is facing serious charges, including rape, after an investigation revealed his illicit interactions with an 11-year-old girl that he met through an online game. As reported by WLWT, Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich announced the indictment, which includes three counts of rape along with kidnapping, importuning, and grooming.

According to the indictment, Adams connected with the victim on Zepeto, a social gaming app, and began to communicate with her in February. On Sunday, Adams is accused of having picked the girl up from her residence before driving her to his own home, where the alleged sexual assault occurred. This information was detailed by the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office and confirmed by The Enquirer.

Amidst the charges, the Prosecutor's office made a statement to enhance awareness among parents regarding the dangers of online predators. "We will do everything possible to hold Chevalier Adams accountable for taking advantage of a young girl, who through no fault of her own, was tricked and coerced by a stranger," said Prosecutor Pillich in a statement obtained by WLWT. Adams faces up to 26 years in prison if convicted and is currently held at the Hamilton County Justice Center.

The case further highlights the issue of online safety, particularly concerning minor-aged users of social platforms and games. Prosecutor Pillich urged parents "to stay vigilant. Please know who your children are talking to, monitor their online activity, and have open conversations about internet safety. What may seem like harmless gaming can quickly turn dangerous," as quoted in the WCPO news release. Meanwhile, Zepeto's efforts at user safety have come under scrutiny, with their support webpage declaring that monitoring of user-generated content is conducted by both AI and human moderation to address anti-grooming and abuse, as reported by WLWT.
