A teenage boy is now in custody following a harrowing incident that unfolded in Federal Hill. According to FOX Baltimore, the 17-year-old suspect was apprehended after police say he committed an armed carjacking on Monday afternoon.

The Baltimore Police Department stated the crime happened at around 3:30 p.m. when the victim, who had parked her vehicle and left it idling on the 1100 block of Light Street to enter a bank, found her 8-year-old son assaulted by the carjacker. The aggressor arrived in a black Hyundai Elantra before entering the victim's car, and, after a physical confrontation, he threatened the child with a knife and pushed him from the vehicle, then fled the scene.

Authorities were able to track down the stolen vehicle using a tracking device installed inside. As reported by WBALTV, the teenage carjacker was taken into custody on Jefferson Street, a few miles away from the scene of the crime.

The boy, who is not being named due to his status as a minor, is now facing serious charges.
