The Bibb County Sheriff's Office has initiated a manhunt for Nicholas Ishmael Floyd, an 18-year-old suspect responsible for a series of violent acts, including a shooting, arson, and the kidnapping of a minor. On Tuesday, around 9 p.m., deputies responded to an emergency in the 4000 block of Summer Hill Drive, following reports of a shooting incident where a 52-year-old woman was found suffering from a gunshot wound, FOX 5 Atlanta reports.
After the shooting, which took place at her home on Madden Avenue, Floyd is alleged to have set the residence ablaze before fleeing with a 12-year-old boy to another house on Summer Hill Drive, and barricaded himself inside, as detailed in a 13WMAZ article. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team later entered the home, where they found the child unharmed, but the suspect had managed to escape the scene beforehand.
Authorities currently describe Floyd as being 6-foot-1 and weighing about 150 pounds, with an afro; they've warned the public of his armed and dangerous status, urging immediate contact with law enforcement if he's spotted. The medic rush took the gunshot victim to the hospital and she's now expected to survive her injuries.
