
Yesterday at approximately 10:30 am, the Boston Fire Department faced a blaze of significant intensity at a residence on 14 Whittemore Street in West Roxbury. The fire aggressively seized the front porch, then spread voraciously through all three floors of the structure, resulting in the porch's collapse. Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze as the structure was gradually overtaken by flames. The front porch had collapsed before the arrival of the second team of firefighters, highlighting the severity of the fire. No injuries were reported.
As a result of the incident, two residents have been displaced. The American Red Cross of Massachusetts is providing assistance. Damage from the fire is estimated at approximately $750,000. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. According to the Boston Fire Department, detail companies will remain at the scene to monitor and manage any remaining hot spots.
