In a display of police reaching out to the community, officers from Boston's District D-4 Community Service Office took a break from their beats to join young people at the Huntington Avenue YMCA for an evening of painting and ice cream. The "Paint Night" event, aimed at fostering relationships between law enforcement and residents, allowed participants to explore their creative sides while sharing conversations and, quite literally, breaking bread—or in this case, breaking in a new set of watercolors.
As youngsters dabbed their brushes to canvas, transforming their thoughts into strokes of color, the Boston Police Department's Ice Cream Truck rolled in. A sweet complement to the creative process, the truck dispensed frozen delights provided by the Boston Police Foundation’s COP Fund and HP Hood, a longtime partner of the initiative. "We’re always glad to spend time with those we serve!"—an upbeat sentiment shared in a statement from the Boston Police Department.
