Following an operation aimed at tackling sexual exploitation, nine individuals were apprehended last week, the Boston Police Department reported. The sting, taking place on July 24, saw the joint efforts of the Boston Police Human Trafficking Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, alongside the Massachusetts State Police and the FBI's dedicated task force actively working to combat this issue in the Massachusetts Avenue area, particularly near South Bay Mall.
The operation strategically used undercover officers to readily identify potential traffickers, exploiters, and sex buyers. These officers set out to significantly reduce the prevalence of sexual exploitation in the region. According to the Boston Police Department, "Undercover Boston Police Officers were utilized to help identify exploiters, traffickers, and sex buyers."
The individuals arrested are facing various charges, including sex for a fee and enticement of a minor. They were detained and are expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court. The suspects include Mohamed Djadoune, Sah Kumar Raj, Jason Vinci, Jose Luis Pinedu Colocho, Pradeep Mishra, Frederick Williams, Juan Jose Galdamez Surio, Konstantinos Mamanidis, and Roberta Pena. Their ages range from 24 to 68, showcasing that this illicit trade does not discriminate based on age.
These arrests come as a part of a broader push by law enforcement agencies to aggressively address and dismantle networks of sexual exploitation.
