The Boston Police Department has issued a missing person alert for 38-year-old João Tavares, a resident of Dorchester. Tavares was last seen near Figurehead Lane in Quincy on Wednesday, July 16, at 2:00 p.m. He is described as a Black, non-Hispanic male, approximately 5'8" tall, weighing around 190 lbs., with a dark brown complexion. Tavares, who has a developmental disability, is balding and has a black and gray beard. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a green shirt.
With a developmental disability grappling him, the Boston Police Department has shared that Tavares often visits several locations including Stratton Street in Dorchester, Uphams Corner, Fields Corner, and the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard. The search for Tavares has prompted law enforcement to reach out for the public's assistance.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about Tavares' whereabouts to immediately contact 911 or call the District B-3 Detectives at 617-343-4712. The community need not reveal their identity while providing relevant details, as assured by the Boston Police Department's commitment to protecting the identities of informants.
