Brentwood police have announced formal charges against Devondre James, a 22-year-old local resident, for alleged indecent exposure and sexual battery. According to the City of Brentwood Police Department's social media post, the department responded to a call regarding lewd behavior at a business on Sand Creek Road on Monday.
Investigation at the scene led law enforcement to determine that James had exposed himself and committed sexual battery against two individuals. After the incident, James fled before police arrival but was later identified through video surveillance by an officer familiar with him. On Tuesday, Brentwood police located and pursued James near his residence. The chase concluded with his arrest.
The police report indicates that this is not James' first run-in with the law. Currently on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS), James also had three outstanding warrants from various unrelated incidents in multiple counties. These charges are compounded by the latest allegations brought forward by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.
Yesterday, James was detained, with charges of indecent exposure, sexual battery, and obstructing/delaying a police officer filed against him. The Brentwood Police Department has released James' photo to alert the public and seek out possible additional victims or witnesses. They encourage anyone with relevant information to contact them at 925-809-7911.
