The City of Cambridge is reaching out to its senior citizens with an offer to learn more about the inner workings of local law enforcement. The Cambridge Police Senior Academy is inviting residents aged 60 and over to participate in a series of events designed to forge stronger ties with the police department and offer an inside look at public safety operations. Participants will get the chance to engage directly with officers and gain insights that might not be commonly available to the general publi, according to the Cambridge Police Department.

This summer, several sessions are scheduled across Cambridge where registered attendees will be served refreshments and lunch. Among the locations, the North Cambridge Senior Center at 2050 Massachusetts Ave. is gearing up for its sessions on July 15, 16, and 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the registration deadline set for the prior Friday, July 11, as reported by the Cambridge Police Department.

Additional events will take place at Putnam Square Apartments, located at 2 Mt. Auburn St., on August 6, 7, and 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and at the Cambridge Senior Center at 806 Massachusetts Ave. on August 19, 20, and 21, also from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Interested parties have until Tuesday, July 29, and Tuesday, August 12 respectively, to register for these events, as per the Cambridge Police Department.

Seniors can reserve a spot by calling Kessen Green at 617-349-6009 or emailing [email protected]. For more details and to see the event flyer, visit the Cambridge Police Department website.
