Attention Cambridge locals and visitors: Inman Square will be a bit trickier to navigate this weekend due to the festivities of the Portuguese-American Civic League's Holy Spirit Feast. According to an announcement on the City of Cambridge website, street closures and traffic impacts are slated to start on Friday and will run through Sunday.
The revelry is set to happen at 15 Springfield Street, which means Springfield Street will be off-limits to general traffic, so plotting a new course for your weekend meanderings would be wise if they typically weave through that area. The closures are scheduled as follows: from 4:00 PM to midnight on both Friday and Saturday, and then a longer stretch on Sunday, starting bright and early at 9:00 AM all the way until the clocks strike midnight again.
With the street shutdowns, the city advises taking detour signs seriously and maybe even ditching the car for other forms of transit whenever feasible. The Portuguese-American Civic League's Holy Spirit Feast promises to draw crowds with its cultural celebrations, which, while enriching for the community, inevitably mean congestion and rerouted routines for drivers.
