NBC10 Boston reported that aftermath of the accident still hung in the air even as morning hues began to repaint the night sky. Meanwhile, state police provided more insight into the events leading to this disruption of what is usually a quiet stretch of road. "At 1:30 a.m., a Trooper assigned to the South Boston Barracks responded to a motor vehicle 2-car crash involving a black KIA at the intersection of Hancock St and Billings Rd in Quincy," according to a statement obtained by WHDH. The chaos unfolded when after colliding, the KIA hurtled towards the building on Billings Road.
After the initial impact with the establishment, the driver absconded on foot but was promptly apprehended by authorities after a brief chase. "The Trooper apprehended the operator after a short foot pursuit and facilitated medical care for a cut on the suspect’s head by Quincy EMS," the statement by the state police explained, as per WHDH. The suspect, whose identity wasn't immediately available, received attention for a head injury sustained during the incident.
