As reported by the City of Casa Grande, the $5.8 million initiative has focused on the Trekell Road segment between Rodeo Road and McCartney Road.
The project has expanded Trekell Road from two lanes to four between Avenida Luna and McCartney Road and introduced a median to better manage the throng of vehicles accessing the high school; it also features a new two-way turn lane at McCartney Road that aims to alleviate congestion and smoothen out traffic flow, yet, a snag has been hit—a rather frustrating delay from a third-party natural gas provider is holding up a small yet significant portion of the work, the company’s entangled paperwork has kept Ellison Mills Contracting from putting the final touches on the improvement project for the past nine months, despite the city's repeated attempts to expedite the process.
The intended completion of the project was strategically timed to coincide with the beginning of the school year, signaling the City's commitment to creating a safer and more efficient roadway environment for its citizens.
