Good news for active neighborhood groups in Chandler: the Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence Awards are calling for nominations. According to a recent release, neighborhood watch groups involved in last year’s G.A.I.N. event have the chance to submit their nominations online for recognition of their community efforts. The deadline to nominate is Aug. 10, opening up possibilities to receive funding and support for future neighborhood initiatives.
Honoring those who tirelessly enhance the fabric of Chandler's community, awards are split into two categories: the Mayor’s Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award. After submitting a nomination, the communities engaged in G.A.I.N., and their stories are ready to be told, shared, and potentially rewarded with prizes such as $1,000 credit toward a neighborhood event or resources to ensure a successful gathering. A unique feature of this year's awards is the inclusion of a pick in the 2025 G.A.I.N. event lottery, offering first dibs on police resources for the winning neighborhoods.
Mayor Hartke is responsible for selecting the Mayor’s Choice Award, while the People’s Choice Award will rely on a community online vote. Cast your vote between August 13 and August 24 on the official award website.
Both winners will be announced at the G.A.I.N. kickoff event, slated for September 20, held in the morning hours between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. at the Chandler Police Main Station community room.
