The Chatham Community Library, in collaboration with Chatham Pride Alliance, is gearing up to aid educators as they prepare for the new school year. A back-to-school supply drive will quickly run, aiming to lessen the financial burden often borne by teachers for classroom materials. The drive starts on August 1 and continues through August 30 at the library located at 197 NC Hwy 87 N, Pittsboro, NC 27312.
Statistics reveal a hard truth that 93% of teachers dig into their own wallets, with North Carolina educators shelling out more than $1,300 annually on school supplies, as cited by a national survey of teachers. To directly support the educators in Chatham County, the library is accepting a range of items, from dry erase boards and staples to crayons and hand sanitizer. The full list of requested supplies can be found here.
Donation details and other information are available on the library's official Chatham County website.
