Clark County is currently on the lookout for nominations of businesses and individuals to be honored in its annual Disability Employment Awareness Month Awards. As detailed on the county's website today, businesses and individuals making significant contributions to the employment of people with developmental disabilities will be recognized for their efforts.

The goal of the awards is to spotlight the important role that individuals with developmental disabilities play in creating a vibrant, productive workforce, as well as to acknowledge the leadership provided by the business community. The event coincides with the celebration of October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Awards will be presented in several categories, including Large Employer of people with developmental/intellectual disabilities, Small Employer, Employee with a developmental/intellectual disability, Dennis Campbell Outstanding Service Award, and the David Hanawalt Service Award. Detailed information about the award categories can be found on Clark County's official website.

The award recipients and nominees will come together for the Disability Employment Awards Event scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Clark College. The ceremony intends to not only celebrate the achievements but also to facilitate networking among attendees, starting at 4 pm until the event wraps at 6 pm. Those interested in putting forward a business or an individual for recognition have until 5 pm Wednesday, Aug. 1, to submit their nominations. Nomination forms are available via the aforementioned link.
