Commuters in Clay County are looking at several days of reroutes and delays as the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) gets down to the business of infrastructure maintenance. For those navigating the vicinities of Missouri Route 33 and 172nd Street, it's time to mark your calendars and plan alternative routes. According to MoDOT's announcement, culvert replacements are going to lead the charge, ushering in a fresh wave of traffic changes, all contingent on the whims of weather.
Starting at 7 a.m. yesterday, 172nd Street on the west side to MO 33 was closed and will remain so until Thursday, July 10, at 7 p.m. Additionally, a flagging operation on the same stretch began at 9 a.m. yesterday and is expected to continue through the evening. Today, MO 33 at 172nd Street will also be closed starting at 9 a.m., with the closure lasting through Thursday, following a similar pattern.
