In a move aimed at bolstering firearm safety within the community, the Clayton County Police Department, in partnership with the District Attorney’s Office, will be distributing free gun lockboxes to local residents. This event is set to take place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the police department headquarters located at 7911 N. McDonough St., Jonesboro, GA 30236, the department announced.
Officials emphasized the importance of securing firearms to prevent accidental discharges, thefts, unauthorized use, and other dangers. Gun safes were highlighted as an effective measure to reduce these risks. As part of this effort, firearm safety giveaways were conducted to promote responsible gun ownership. Clayton County's authorities stated, "Proper firearm storage saves lives—let’s keep our community safe."
They are reminded that securing firearms properly is not a mere suggestion but a fundamental aspect of ownership. For more details on the giveaway, interested parties are encouraged to visit the Clayton County website.
