The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office has made multiple arrests related to a contraband smuggling operation at the Cleveland County Detention Center. According to a social media post from the Sheriff's Office, the investigation began after a narcotics-filled package addressed to an inmate was discovered.
The contraband intercepted on Monday prompted a detailed investigation by detectives, who quickly identified and arrested the suspects. Those taken into custody include Jennifer Guest, 45, and Clinton Bryley, 22, both charged with introducing contraband into a penal institution and conspiracy to commit a felony.
"The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office is unwavering in its commitment to integrity, accountability, and the rule of law. We will not tolerate any attempts to undermine the security of our facility or endanger those in our care," Sheriff Chris Amason stated in the department's post.
Information about the full extent of the contraband network within the Cleveland County Detention Center is currently limited as the investigation continues. The Sheriff's Office is expected to release additional updates as the case develops.
