The whereabouts of Daniel Latterell, however, remain a mystery, and authorities continue their search.
In a previous update, it was determined that both Jane and Daniel were last seen on May 26 in McGregor. The couple had been missing since May 25, and the initial alert described them as last being together near the 1600 block of Cloquet Avenue. They were believed to be traveling in a 2010 gray Ford Escape, sporting the Minnesota license plate JEP512. Concern had grown for Jane, who was 63, and Daniel, age 64, as friends and family had not had contact with them since their disappearance. The vehicle was also part of search efforts as it could have offered clues to their last known location.
The Cloquet Police Department, alongside the family of the missing individuals, put out urgent pleas for public assistance in locating the pair. Jane Korpela was described as 63 years old, 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing 242 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Daniel Latterell was characterized as being 64 years old, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
