Cobb County is stepping up its digital game with the launch of a new mobile app designed to streamline the way residents interact with county services and stay updated on local happenings. Officially rolled out for both Apple and Android devices, the "CobbGov" app is a free platform that aims to provide a more seamless and informed experience for those seeking to report community issues, manage payments, and catch the latest news on events and services.
The app's introduction marks an advance from the county's previous mobile app, focusing on user-friendliness and real-time notifications. A standout feature of the refreshed app, according to Cobb County Communications Director Ross Cavitt, is its capacity for instant alerts. "When severe weather approaches Cobb, we often urge residents to keep weather notification devices handy," Cavitt stated to Cobb County Government. "This app now gives residents a fast and reliable way to receive weather alerts and other important updates directly to their phones—whether it’s a boil water advisory or a major traffic disruption."
Users who dive into the "CobbGov" app will find extensive functionality at their fingertips, including a dedicated Notifications tab. Here, they can personalize the alerts they wish to receive, staying connected with critical updates. The app efficiently disseminates information about county-wide issues, from severe weather warnings to event-related news like the All-Star Game festivities at Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta.
Subscribers to the older text message alerting system will find the transition smooth, messages have already been sent to notify users of the switch to the new, more cost-effective app-based notifications. Developed by TheGovApp.com, a division of OCV, LLC., which specializes in creating mobile apps for government entities, "CobbGov" boasts quick access to numerous features. It encompasses news, event schedules, Board of Commissioners updates, roads and traffic reports, maps/GIS, CobbTV, notifications, among other services. For those interested in downloading, it's a simple search away on the App Store or Google Play – just look for "Cobb County Government, GA" to download.
