A 3-year-old child was hospitalized on Friday after being found unresponsive in Gull Lake. The Richland Police Department said bystanders pulled the child from the water before police arrived. The first Richland Police Department officer on scene began CPR and continued until medical personnel took over, according to FOX 17.
In the rescue effort, the child was taken to a local hospital. Their condition has not been made public to respect the family’s privacy. Details about the child’s recovery have not been released. “We are incredibly proud of the swift and heroic actions of our officer,” Richland Police Department Chief Jeff Mattioli said in a Facebook post, as reported by WZZM13.
