
East Nashville has been the scene of a significant arrest following a June incident involving a convicted felon and an officer. Marcus Smith, 47, was apprehended this Tuesday by detectives from the Violent Crimes Division on Stable Lane, as reported by Nashville.gov. Smith had multiple warrants out for his arrest stemming from a traffic stop on June 26 during which officers encountered a non-official tag on the black Infiniti G35 he was driving.
As was detailed in the official police release, the officer observed Smith, in possession of a handgun, raise it menacingly before fleeing the scene. Taken into custody with drugs, namely MDMA and marijuana, as well as a loaded firearm in his lunchbox, Smith later admitted to detectives his role as the driver during the questioned traffic stop.
Smith's charges include two counts of misdemeanor drug possession, two counts of being a felon in possession of a weapon, aggravated assault on an officer, felony evading arrest, two counts of probation violation, and alteration of the gun’s serial number. As the criminal justice system proceeds to deal with the case, he remains incarcerated with a bond set at $116,500.
