
The Covington Police Department is currently investigating an aggravated assault that occurred over the Fourth of July weekend, involving a man accusing his roommate of throwing a catalytic converter at him, resulting in serious injury. The incident took place on Sunday around 9:30 PM in the 100 block of Ervin Lane; the victim, suffering from significant blood loss from a gash to the back of his head, identified Robriegus Moore, 34, as the assailant during a verbal dispute turned violent, alcohol appears to have played a role in the confrontation, according to the Covington Police Department.
Responding to the scene, officers noted the victim's injuries to be consistent with his account, initiating a transport to Baptist-Tipton Hospital, where he remains in stable condition. Moore was arrested, charged as the primary aggressor in the altercation, and is currently detained at the Tipton County Jail on a $75,000.00 bond. He is expected to appear before Tipton County General Sessions Court Judge M.O. Eckel III on July 8, 2025, as per the police department.
