Davie Fire Rescue is stepping up to address teen safety concerns with the launch of their first annual Teen Safety Night, set to take place on August 8. In a recent announcement, the Rescue team has outlined a slate of programs aimed at empowering teens with the knowledge and skills for today's challenging environment. From 4 to 8 p.m. at 3801 S. Pine Island Road, this event will be open to teens aged 14 to 18 and feature seminars on topics ranging from driving safety to cyber security and opioid overdose awareness.

Community advocates and professionals, including Safe Kids Broward and Davie Police Department Detective Adam Granit, will lead the presentations. According to information obtained by Davie Fire Rescue's official announcement, the schedule includes "Impact Teen Driving" and "Cyber Safety" sessions, hoping to reduce risky behaviors behind the wheel and online. Medical students from the Robin Foundation will also share their knowledge on the critical topic of opioid overdose, a response to the ongoing public health crisis.

Adding to the event's engagement factor, Sarah Perry from the Aden Perry Good Samaritan and Scholarship Fund will be presenting a seminar with a door to academic opportunities by offering a scholarship opportunity. Free food, a staple for attracting the teenage demographic, will be provided to all participants, making the event not only educational but also social.

The first 50 registrants will be rewarded with a gift bag, a small incentive in the grander scheme of teen safety education. Pre-registration is essential and can be done online at Davie Fire Rescue's website. With the registration deadline set firmly on August 8 at 11 a.m., as emphasized by the Rescue team, it's a race against the clock for interested parties. Moreover, attendees looking to bank some service hours can bring their forms to the Teen Safety Night, as a representative will be ready to sign off on their participation.
