In a nod to the aesthetic efforts of its residents, the Dearborn City Beautiful Commission has selected 51 homes to be honored with the 2025 Residential Standard of Excellence Awards (RSOE). These awards, part of an enduring city tradition, recognize standout property maintenance and beautification, as per the City of Dearborn.
A total of 17 districts saw the top three homes each being granted the accolades, with an additional 423 homes earning honorable mentions for their curb appeal. Among the top awardees are residences located at 7513 Yinger, 7612 Calhoun, and 7601 Calhoun in District 1, with homeowners Ali Mehanna and Crystal Kasim at 7612 garnering a spot in the limelight. In District 6, Mary Motowski's home at 14341 Robertson was also distinguished with this honor.
The comprehensive list of awardees was shared by the Dearborn City Beautiful Commission, and the names of the honorees were included with their consent. These community members will receive a garden sign, a window decal, and an invitation to a ceremony spearheaded by Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud and the commission, scheduled for early 2026. This event serves to celebrate the homeowners' contributions to the cityscape. The recipients of honorable mentions, meanwhile, are set to receive a window decal and a letter of congratulations.
More than just seasonal dexterity in landscaping, the City Beautiful Commission fosters a wide range of programs promoting community beauty and environmental responsibility. These include the Business Standard of Excellence Awards and initiatives like the Sustainable Landscaping recognition program. The commission works closely with local schools on Cleanup Parades, tree plantings, and campaigns targeting littering.
