The Georgia Department of Corrections is bringing a familiar face forward to lead the Appling Integrated Treatment Facility. Dedrick Anthony, the current Assistant Superintendent, has been tapped to take on the head role starting July 16, the GDC announced. In this new capacity, Anthony will oversee the facility's staff and supervise its male detainee population.

Having steadily ascended the ranks since his 2009 start as a Correctional Officer at Georgia State Prison, Anthony's journey reflects a broad experience in corrections work. As stated by the GDC Commissioner Tyrone Oliver, "Dedrick has worked his way up through the ranks and proven his dedication to the mission during his tenure with the department." Anthony, responsible for carrying the pieces of his leadership role, will guide Appling ITF's mission and team under his wing, as noted by the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Anthony's credentials include various promotions within the Georgia Department of Corrections system, from serving on the Correctional Emergency Response Team to attaining the ranks of Sergeant and Lieutenant. After extending his skills to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in 2020, he returned to the GDC, where his leadership capabilities further led to his appointment as Chief of Security at Emanuel Probation Detention Center, and subsequently Assistant Superintendent at Appling ITF.

Committed to personal and professional development, Anthony furthers his credentials by having enrolled at Eastern Gateway Community College, pursuing a degree in criminal justice. He has undergone an extensive array of departmental training, including Basic Correctional Officer Training and Deputy Wardens Academy.
