Drivers who regularly traverse the southbound lanes of State Route 87 north of Fountain Hills should brace for some delays next week. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), there will be lane restrictions in place from July 14 through July 18 to facilitate highway resurfacing works.
The work zone, highlighted by ADOT, spans approximately a three-mile stretch between Vista Del Oro and Fort McDowell Road, primarily affecting southbound traffic. Crews will be on-site from early dawn at 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., indicating travelers might need to budget extra time for their commutes.
ADOT has issued a caution to motorists to be prepared for slower traffic and to anticipate possible stops as needed in the work area. In addition to the lane narrowing, some turning lanes will also be temporarily shut down to aid the resurfacing process. As seen in ADOT's announcement, "Drivers should allow extra travel time and expect slow traffic conditions at times while restrictions are in place."
