Residents in El Paso might want to keep an umbrella close at hand in the coming days. The National Weather Service predicts a varied week of weather ahead, with rising temperatures and several chances for thunderstorms. As of this morning, the mostly sunny city is witnessing a mild 78°F, which is expected to climb substantially. The humidity currently sits at a comfortable 56%, making the warm weather more bearable.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a 50 percent chance of seeing thunderstorms develop later in the afternoon, particularly after 3 pm. The day will mostly remain sunny with highs creeping up to near 93 degrees Fahrenheit. The southeast wind could persistently blow at 8 to 10 mph. Should those thunderstorms come to pass, rainfall might slightly exceed a tenth of an inch. For tonight, the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms increases, especially before the early hours. The nighttime low will settle at around 71 degrees, with the southeast wind 6 to 9 mph changing west northwest after midnight.
Moving into Tuesday, the conditions appear to nearly mirror today's forecast. There's a consistent 40 percent chance of rain and storms post-noon, against a backdrop of mostly sunny skies and highs again near the 93-degree mark. Lighter winds are expected, with a north northeast breeze around 6 mph shifting to south southeast in the afternoon. Heading into Tuesday night, the chances of precipitation drop to 30 percent, mainly before midnight. Temperatures for the evening are forecasted to hover around 73 degrees, accompanied by a gentle southeast wind.
As the week progresses, the pattern of afternoon thunderstorm chances continues, albeit reduced. The rest of the week sees a dip to a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms starting Wednesday afternoon. By then, temperatures are expected to rise, with a high near 95 degrees. The wind will be relatively tame, coming from the northeast at about 5 mph before becoming variable and light. As we approach the weekend, the highs will gradually inch towards the 100-degree mark under sunny skies. The evenings will offer little respite, maintaining lows in the mid-70s.
